Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 18, 2026
Overview
CodingEnvironment is a personal site operated by Jason T. Cole. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices regarding your data.
Information We Collect
We collect minimal information:
- Account data you provide: When you create an account or sign in, we store your name, email address, and basic profile information.
- Google API data: If you connect a Google account, we access only the specific scopes you authorize — typically read/write access to Gmail and Calendar. We do not access your Google Drive, contacts, or other services unless explicitly requested and authorized.
- Usage data: We collect basic analytics (page views, feature usage) to improve the site. This is aggregated and not linked to your identity.
- Automated data: Standard server logs (IP address, browser type, request timestamps) are collected for security and debugging purposes.
How We Use Your Information
- To provide and improve the services you've requested
- To send emails or calendar events on your behalf when you explicitly request it
- To maintain site security and prevent abuse
- To analyze usage patterns for improving the site
Google API Data Use
When you authorize Google API access:
- We only request the minimum scopes needed for the feature you're using
- Your Google data is never sold, shared with third parties, or used for advertising
- We do not use your Google data to train machine learning models
- You can revoke access at any time from your Google Account settings
- Upon revocation, we delete any cached Google data within 30 days
Data Storage and Security
Data is stored on secured servers with appropriate access controls. We use HTTPS for all connections. OAuth tokens are encrypted at rest. We follow industry-standard practices to protect your information, but no system is perfectly secure.
Data Retention
- Account data: retained while your account is active; deleted within 30 days of account deletion
- OAuth tokens: stored encrypted; deleted when you revoke access
- Server logs: retained for 90 days, then purged
- Analytics data: aggregated and anonymized; retained indefinitely
Your Rights
- You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time
- You may revoke Google API access through your Google Account settings
- You may delete your account, which triggers removal of your data per the retention schedule above
Third-Party Services
We use Google APIs as described above. We do not use third-party analytics services that track you across other sites. We do not use advertising networks or sell data to data brokers.
Children's Privacy
This site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy periodically. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
